Talk the talk or walk the walk?

The use of advertising is a big thing within the world of fashion. If anything it is most important for fashion designers and companies to advertise effectively to sell their work to the right market. So this got me thinking what is it that makes a good advert? Do people want weird and quirky? Straight to the point and bold? Words? Music? What is it that people like to watch?

It is both print ad campaigns and TV advertising that helps to promote a brand. So I have come up with a few of my favourites, see if you agree?

The Kooples have one of my favourite print ads, the use couples with obvious style and obvious flare but capture the adverts in a way that are hard to ignore. An advert that completely reflects the type of brand that The Kooples is. They have also just introduced Pete Doherty into their new campaign, risky but I love it!

The Victoria Beckham for Marc Jacob campaign was also one of my favourite campaigns. The way in which he used Victoria Beckham in quite a light hearted way creates an effective and high end advert.

The use of famous faces always proves to be effective in ad campaigns. (This one for the women) but I know for a fact that every woman out there that watches the H&M advert wants their boyfriend/ Partner to wear those boxers! As silly as it sounds an admirable figure advertising clothes will always entice people.

The same applies with adverts such as Burberry and Chloe, the prettier the models the more chance not only women but men will buy the products. It really as a simple as "Women want to be her and men want to be with her"

However, my question is no matter how good the advert is can a brand really talk the talk and walk the walk? Or is a good advert just the front of a second rate brand?

Christian Louboutin is celebrating his 20th anniversary of the creation of his beautiful shoes. As a celebration he has decided to re-release some of his favorite designs, he is releasing 20 styles of shoes and 6 bags all inspired by these favorites. He is then launching his very own poop up shop in Selfridges in London. With the success of his own brand and the known popularity of pop-up shops it is obvious that Louboutin are going to have many more anniversary's to celebrate.

Alongside these treats, he is also producing a collection of sketch previews that shows the eagerly waiting customers what they can expect to be buying at the end of February!

Could Victoria Beckham be one of the luckiest women in the world?

Look at her husband, her career, her house, her children, her clothing line...her!

She has managed to go from Posh spice (or 'the one who couldn't actually sing')

to a super high flying business woman with a husband to die for!

She is also gracing the cover of this issue of I-D magazine, the Whatever the weather issue.

After having 4 children Mrs Becks still rocks a skimpy corset and killer heels in her feature making every other woman jealous.

My favorite part of her feature?

“I don’t follow fashion and I don’t follow trends, I just follow my instincts"

The line that has allowed her to create a beautiful clothing line and to have the title as one of the most stylish women on the planet.

She has also admitted that as she has been photographed from so many angles in so many outfits she now knows what to wear and how to wear it to flatter her figure.

No smoke without fire

My flat mate has arrived with the new copy of Glamour today. I have been sat flicking through it and saw the most beautiful version of smokey eyes that I have seen for a very long time. When smokey eyes first became popular everybody wore it in the same way. Now though things are changing.

Looking at the world of celebrity, everybody is doing it!

J-lo rocks the dark eyes creating her signature look.

Leighton Meester uses brown instead of black to

create her smokey eyes.

So the trend never dies and the stars keep soaking up the smoke!

Elie Saab - Making the catwalk beautiful

Elie Saab is becoming more and more worshiped in the world of fashion every day. This was completely understandable when I saw his Spring 2012 couture show. OH MY GOD! This is one collection that made my jaw drop and my stomach churn with jealousy! I've picked some of my favorites for you to see yourselves.

It is couture like this that makes fashion what it is. Beautiful silhouettes, gorgeous materials, delicate embellishments and AMAZING creations.

I cannot wait to see these gracing the red carpet.

Valentino Valentine?

Ok so I am sat on the sofa watching a few of the runway shows from times gone by and have noticed that when it comes to Valentino I am sure of very few things.

1. Valentino dresses are THE most beautiful dresses in the world.

2. Ever since watching Sex and the City the movie I cannot get the image of the Valentino dress from the Vogue shoot out of my mind

3. I WANT IT!!

Now this did make me aware of the fact that with Valentino myself and a lot of others do not look much further than dresses, blissfully un-aware that like any other designer Valentino has much more to offer. So thanks to my search into Spring/Summer 12 welcome to my whole new wish list of Valentino.

If only Valentino could be my Valentine!

The Benefits of Benefit

Every girl knows that make up is an essential part of our lives. Whether we like to to be or not every girl loves a make up bag full of pretty blushers, mascaras, lip sticks and brushes. Personally I am not the kind of girl who spends a lot on my make up, purely because I tend not to wear that much. However recently I decided to invest in some GORGEOUS benefit make up (and also blag some freebies)

My best friend recently gave me her high beam (because she is lucky enough not to need it) however I LOVE the overly dewy look with make up and this is now my favorite item of make up that I own. Use it anywhere on your face from eyes to cheeks and it instantly wakes up your complexion.

This is also one of the best benefit products I have used. One coat immediately plumps up your eye lashes in the same way that numerous coats of any other mascara would. Plus it's water proof which is even better!

There is also a matching eye liner which is amazing! It smudges perfectly and stays put for hours!

This comes with me everywhere! It is the handiest most reliable make up investment. Use it as eyeliner to brighten your eyes and enhance their glisten or dab in the corner of your eyes to make them pop.

There are so many benefits to buying benefit!

Some might say that Paisley has run it's course but I disagree. Not only is it sweeping the catwalks this season with everybody from Dior to Chloe using Paisley within at least one item of their collections,it is still beautiful!

From Paisley dresses to skirts and mix and match prints to create the quirky geek chic style,you definitely need to get crazy for Paisley!

Top of the shops once again

Ok so contrary to my previous rant about being disappointed with topshop over Christmas,after today I can officially say that my loyalty to topshop doesn't stop.....even when I think it has!

After shopping in Cardiff for hours and hours the week before Cardiff I have ended up returning everything that I didn't buy from topshop and replacing it with a new pair of heels, a top and a jacket courtesy of my best friend of shops! The two things I did keep are clothes that are similar to clothes from topshop that were sold out!

Things are getting serious....

Bar Robbie Williams I have no obsession like my obsession with topshop!

Thinking about this it is true that everybody ordinary or famous always remains loyal to one main brand or shop!

Granted that many celebrities endorse brands but think about it....

Blake lively - Chanel
Alexa Chung- mulberry
Charlize Theron - Dior
Pixie Lott - lipsy

And even men, you're always likely to see make celebs donning the same Calvin Klein or Dior suits!

So is it a case of finding a shop that repeatedly manages to fulfil our wants and needs with clothes? Is it the idea that we have to follow the trend? Or is it simply the idea that we are too scared to venture away from anything out of the ordinary?

It's back!

So I've been pretty much M.I.A with the blog posts in the last few months. Partly because I've been really busy with uni and settling back in but also because what has actually been happening in the world of fashion?! I know there's always gossip and scandal but there has been nothing ( I believe) that has been particularly worthy of blogging!

However

Now Christmas has been and very quickly gone it's time to see everybody strutting their stuff in their new Christmas clothes. The festive season is a fashionistas dream! One of the two times of year (the other being birthdays) That you can get new clothes without having to pay for them! Personally this year I was pleased with how much I managed to buy! Thanks to the wonderful world of recession Warehouse launched their 40% sale two weeks before Christmas! Bad for them I know but brilliant for me seeing as i managed to bag myself a blanket coat for £40 instead of £140! Although this early sale could be a sign of bad things to come for Warehouse!

The major disappointment this year (as much as it pains me to say it) was Topshop! For such an on trend and popular store, they had NOTHING! I do understand that my wardrobe is like Topshop's stock room but for the first time I walked into Topshop and back out within 10 minutes empty handed!

It's funny how you're idea of what is nice in fashion changes based on where you are and who you spend you're time with! My mum described me yesterday as going from somebody who wore "pretty dresses" during the day to someone who looks "comfortable" because I have recently bought into the chunky knit jumper and skinny jeans trend. This was an extreme shocker as I am a strong believer that fashion is NOT made to be comfortable. The more uncomfortable you are the nicer you will look.

But yes now my festive rant is over afashionableaffair will officially come back to life!

Prepare yourselves for fashion rants in 2012!!

Money vs Style

As I sit here next to my best friend searching Amazon for a cheap pot of OPI muppets collection I can't help but wonder if having more money makes it easier to be more stylish?

Think about it.....

Being a student means I am poor 99% of the time apart from my birthday or Christmas. Luckily for me it is my 21st birthday on Sunday and therefore had the luxury of having over 200 pounds to spend on of course clothes! Although I wanted my Mulberry Bayswater for my birthday I was EVEN more over joyed to unwrap my beautiful Michael Kors rose gold watch off my parents. (partly because it is extremely shiny) but mainly because this is the first truly expensive item I have really owned. The first thing I know I will keep for the rest of my life.

So does money make you more stylish?

Look at celebrities, they are always the ones captured and photographed for the style pages of magazines, so why not photograph normal people? I know that people are not really interested in those "normal" people and what they're wearing but its not really fair to make us normal folk to feel like we aren't as stylish as those with money.

For example

Olivia Palermo - Did we know how stylish she was before she was famous? Or was she just not stylish at all until she became one of the stars of the City working for Elle?

She is by far one of my favourite style icons and possibly one of the most sought after fashion icons by everyday people. But at some point in her life she was simply a nomal girl trying to work in fashion. So does the fact that she now has money behind her mean that it is easier for her to look this stylish? I think it does!

I am happy enough spending my birthday money in Topshop but I am more of a quantity than quality kind of girl, but I know if I had all the money in the world I would definitley want to dress like Miss Palermo!

Winter Wonderland

Now the first few weeks of the beginning of term are over I now have a few minutes to actually breathe (and not be hungover) to write a post! A couple of weeks ago there was a heat wave down here in Cardiff....really there was. The panic of "Oh no I didnt think I was going to need a maxi dress in September" and it therefore being hundreds of miles away at home well and truly hit.
Now though its a different story! Not only has the heat gone the cold has attacked! Im not going to lie I am a fan of winter clothes, the more covered up I can be the better! But Im bored of making my winter wardrobe everything I already own just teamed with tights!
I don't really want to give you an insight into what I've brought for winter as my fashion in context lecturer described bloggers that do that as "vile" so ill skip over that bit but whats a girl to do when she cant afford a new winter wardrobe?

Zara make a move!

Now I loved Zara even more when they decided to open an online store. However knowing that all of Zaras clothes are manufactured and sold within Europe I was slightly dissapointed in the lack of money and effort that had been put into their website. For a store that offers quite a unique high street style I was expecting Zara to have a quirky and up to date web page.

BUT

Just as I virtually stroll onto their new Autumn/Winter web page they have finally produced something that I love and that will make me 100% focused on actually surfing their page. They have used COLOUR! Actual colour! Now colour and Zara dont tend to mix but this is Jak and Jil esque and will of course work!

DIY fashion!

DIY fashion has been a popular trend for years, with Vogue usually being at the forefront using recycled fashion garments in their editorial spreads. With the use of anything ranging from carrier bags to cans, the fashion world seems to be over run with the environmental change. Now I started uni this week studying Fashion promotion and our first brief is to work alongside the Fashion Design students to produce our own garments using recycled materials and then stage these in our own fashion show. However when you live in Cardiff where the streets are cleaned everyday its hard to pick up any recyclable rubbish on the pavements! Looking through various different magazines however has sparked up some ideas.

Now its our turn!

Everybody is looking for photographers etc to attend the Fashion show happening in the Atrium on Friday! So if anybody is interested get in touch!

French Sole

A lot of people think a dolly shoe is a dolly shoe right? NOPE! In my opinion wearing the right ballet pumps can make the biggest difference to any outfit!! Now majority of my shoes come from Topshop just because of the good quality and the fact that I get student discount (nobody can deny their love for student discount) But if my bank balance would allow it I know exactly where my flats would come from!

French Sole. Since 1989 they have been making the most iconic and beautiful ballet pumps,dolly shoes whatever you call them. They are completely worth any amount of money!

Alexa Chung and Sienna Miller are two of the brands biggest fans and my selection of favourites explains exactly why!

Square toes ranging from £80 - £120

I know to the boot or high hell loving eye these probably just look like expensive versions of high street favourites but I LOVE them and think nothing is nicer than a trusty pair of dollies!

Lifestyle on a budget!

As it's been about 6 months since I left Manchester and therefore 6 months of me working and actually having money (for a change) I have enjoyed being able to pop into Topshop and pick up a skirt I see or a pair of jeans I like and not worry about it. HOWEVER in June, when I had to start paying rent for my flat in Cardiff my bank balance went into shock.....empty shock. So now it's only 1 and a half days until me and my best friend move to Cardiff and I am stocking up on my budget beauty buys and clothes.

I have well and truly conquered the lifestyle on a budget!

(Granted a little help came from my dads wallet)

So clothes wise:

I bought my self some of H&M basic t-shirts

However I hate how they model these t-shirts because who nowadays wears a tight fitting basic t-shirt? So I buy mine a size too big and wear it tucked into my skinnies with a scarf. They come in really nice colours and I've invested in a burnt red and mustard colour. £7.99

Same with jeans. I am a fan of the topshop Baxter but at £40 its just not possible for me, so H&M also do nice fitting coloured skinnies, which I picked up in camel and navy for £15!

New look have also popped up on my radar lately being true followers of the "blirt" now this is my all time favourite item of clothing and I have ridiculous amounts of blirts but alongside the student discount they offer I managed to get 3 for £25. Pretty darn good!

Beauty wise its a bit more difficult.

Fake tan.

For budget fake tan there can be only one name that every girl knows. ST MORITZ!

A home bargains star buy, as soon as you have used this £2.99 tan you will never go back to your St Tropez. It boasts that it uses similar ingredients which I highly doubt it does but who cares! For that price you get a bearable smelling, lasting dark tan. LOVE IT!

Nail Varnish

Barry M all the way. Although I worship Topshop nail colours, £5 for a bottle is out of my price range. So instead Barry M do amazing colours for £2.99 a bottle.

So as my student life begins yet again, I revert back to these budget beauties.

But really it's not that bad!

Winter woolies

I don't know if anybody will actually agree with this but I hate how I have to dress in summer! If its sunny you never know if its hot enough for bare legs or if its too hot for skinnies! If you do go bare leg EVERYBODY else you see seems to be wrapped up like its the middle of winter. Unless it comes to my Topshop tea dresses and gladiator sandals, summer is just too over whelming in the style world.

Once again the one person who can always pull off Summer wear is Olivia Palermo! Maxi skirts and dresses being the one thing you can always get away with!

So when the winter warmers start coming into stock on the high street, I LOVE it! Topshop this season have some amazing winter jumpers and coats!

Now all we need is the snow (and some money) and it winter warmer time!

Oh the Blirt! I am so glad that this is one of Autumn Winters hottest trends! After the masculine tailored shirts of summer hit the catwalks and the chiffon feminine blouses did the same, the new season introduces a perfect combination of the two! Finally something that every woman of every single size can wear and look offically good in! With the length and the looseness of the shirt combined with the sheer materials and frills of a blouse, the blirt is every womans must have!

And my oh my are them some beautiful ones to wear!

I know that Chloe is my favourite designer but if any designer is going to master the Blirt it is going to be Chloe.

Now don't get me wrong, I love to see a good looking guy showing a bit of flesh during the summer. A few tattoos on show maybe BUT one thing I cannot and will never wrap my head around is men who wear tank tops. It is NOT okay for a man to wear a vest. No matter how buff, how famous or hot good looking I cannot agree with a man in a wife beater vest.

Put on a t-shirt or don't wear anything! That is how all guys should think. If you're going to wear a top, wear a proper one,NOT a vest. PLEASE!

See, hot guy, John Mayer....tank top no...

t-shirt? Yes yes yes....

I could go on but my point is that no male should wear a vest. Unless they're Jim Royal.

So guys, turn the tank tops away!

Beauty in Couture.

Now it's not just clothes that can be couture. Because of course to go with couture clothing you need couture make up right? I mean you would never see Lady GaGa in her wacky couture gowns with a simple natural make up look would you? So during fashion week 2011 some of the most amazing make up looks were gracing the catwalks.

Chanels new lace veils and midnight blue nail varnish.

Now I think that the one person who could rely on natural make up with their designs is Valentino. With stunning designs the need for vibrant and over powering make up is not needed. Instead a more bold natural look is used to emphasise big and beautiful eyes.

I think that this is one of my favourite make up looks to grace the catwalks as, although the make up is still visible, it emphasises the true beauty of not just the models but also the clothes.

Bobby Hillson

When art is incorporated into art of when fashion is influenced by a piece of art I find it extremely inspirational. Art if very rarely the base of fashion influence any more, as world issues and architecture seems to be the base of all ideas. However Bobby Hillson is, in my eyes an inspiration that should be used.

Based on models and trends seen during the time, the quirkiness of Hillsons art work is responsible for inspiring some of Mary Quants mini dress designs, with fun loving girls being the idea behind the clothing. With simple pencil sketches she created a world of beautiful drawings.

I can't help but think that its the simple things that manage to cause a stir that are the true greats.

Enough is enough?

Just when we thought the size 0 fiasco was over, at appears that designers and websites may have just been hiding the size of their models with clever angles or multiple layers? But then looking at the world of famous people, even down to Kate Middleton people are just far too thin!
Now I am well and truly into a size 10, quite possibly a 12 (due to my J-lo ass as my mum calls it) and I fall guilty as being one of those girls who looks in the mirror and thinks "my god im fat" I know every girl feels like that but, I for one am SURE that people would look at me and think im fat. However, I simply try to maintain my weight and feel extremely happy if one week I walk to work more and lose a bit of weight, I live for the day that my mum tells me "youve lost some weight from your legs" or "you look like youve lost a bit" I know it sounds sad and a bit obsessive but it is nowhere near the extent of some people in the media.

So what is it that makes us feel like this? Well I am graced with very pretty and slim friends, with nice clothes and majority of them have boyfriends. But its my obsession with fashion that causes mine. I love looking at how people such as Alexa Chung and Clemence Posey dress but hate the fact that I always feel I could never reproduce their look myself because I would look awful.

It shocked me a couple of days ago to read that a 5 year old girl had been admitted to hospital with anorexia. FIVE years old and she was worrying about her weight because she would hear her mum commenting about her own weight and diet.

Now if hearing things like that can effect a 5 year old it explains why us reading endless fashion magazines and watching endless catwalks and fashion shows will brain wash us into believing we should look like the models on the runway. As much as we think we shouldn't we always do.

One store that always seems to have the back of the slimmer model is Topshop. However with 99% of my wardrobe being made up from Topshop I love it, no matter what. Because although their models may be size 6 or even 4, they do not neglect the normal size girl. They had never used shocking images of ill looking models to promote their stores.

That was until Cody Young.

I mean COME ON, this is not an image of a healthy looking model. Really?! How can clothes look nice on a figure so gaunt? I understand that some people are naturally small framed and may be naturally slim, but with people like Cody Young, who has a job that could influence literally hundreds of young girls its not fair to have her as a face of Topshop.

This shot of Cody Young was made to be removed from the homepage of the Topshop website as she was complained about for looking too thin. Cody has fired back claims of anorexia with statements saying she is naturally thin and has no medical issues.

Personally I dont think this is a nice face of Topshop.

Grace Small is also a face of Topshop, surely the tiny little bit of extra weight on her frame is a lot more fitting for a retailer aimed at young women?

It could just be me being jealous, but....?

Kings attainable fashion

Now although I don't have one particular style, I am a fan of many different celebrities styles. One of my favourites being Alexa Chung. However, she is usually draped head to toe with Chanel, Miu Miu and Mulberry (which I cannot afford, obviously) BUT in the world of attainable fashion Mollie King definitely rules the fashion stakes. Plus the fact she is dating possibly THE best looking man on the planet!

I think the fact that Mollie dresses like a normal person allows people to believe that in some way they can look like her. I know that sounds odd but after reading that a 5 year old girl got taken into hospital with anorexia I dont think there is anything wrong with a member of one of the countries biggest girl bands giving out the image that dressing off the highstreet and looking stylish!

Plus it obviously works, I mean LOOK AT HER BOYFRIEND!!

Down South

I have started to notice how (although this is a fashion blog) I actually never give away anything about myself. Which I now realise some people may find weird, me ranting on about my opinions with fashion and my dislikes for Cheryl Cole and the Gallaghers (yes still!) Well I am actually quite a boring person. I constantly hope to be one of these amazing fashionistas that come up on This Morning or other tv shows that have become famous for their amazing blogs or style! I have just seen one woman who everyday takes a picture of herself and what she is wearing and posts it on the internet, she is now a style icon.

I started my blog when I started studying International Fashion Marketing at MMU, however my blog is the only thing that has actually kept going since then. I left Manchester after 6 months because....well I hated it. I was quickly becoming known as "The blonde girl that cries all the time" and to be honest I was even getting on my own nerves. The only good thing about Manchester was the people I met. All be it only a few, I have made 2 amazing friends from Cardiff (who happen to be best friends with each other) who I have managed to keep in contact with (THANK GOD) However I think we were bonded by the fact that we all took a while to settle in to life in Manchester, proven by the fact that there is only one of us actually staying in Manchester.

Now however I am moving to Cardiff with my best friend and beginning a new course, Fashion Promotion. I have already found out that I am going to New York fashion week in February which has made me fall in love with the course already!

Style wise I never consider myself to be "stylish" I LOVE clothes, and I mean that. Clothes and fashion is all I have ever been interested in since I remember. However as in a previous post of mine I personally do not believe that crazy style is the best.

I prefer buying my clothes from Topshop and looking more classy and "normal" if you like. I do not want people to stare at me in the street because I would rather be taken seriously with my opinions of others in the fashion world. My dream is one day to be writer of a fashion columnist in a Fashion magazine.

I have had what can only be described as a difficult 2 years, with a combination of splitting from a long term boyfriend, leaving uni, family loss, illness and a lot of other things that im sure everybody goes through. But this time around I have people that I need to make proud so im focused 100% on making sure that university in Cardiff and living with my best friend will give me the kick start I need into finding a dream job .

Famous for things of true beauty, Mulberry is a brand constantly updating its collections. Just when you think you're in love with the classic Bayswater, they introduce the Alexa, when you fall in love with that they go Large, decision made on the over sized Alexa? They throw in the Polly push, added onto all of the versions of purses alongside the choice of patent, cracked, animal print or classic material its hard to decide which mulberry arm candy deserves your love right?

Well ladies (and some gentleman) I introduce to you the stand alone Mulberry Carter. Like no other Mulberry before, the Carter has an air of Chanel about it. Ranging from just bigger than a coin purse to classic over sized and fashioning a chain handle and in a variety of styles from embossed snake, crocodile nappa and softest suede, the Carter already has celebs swarming. And I must say, I am swooning too.

With the Mulberry creative director labelling the Carter as "Mulberry girl grown-up" could this prove to be a grown up step for the brand?

Every decision is a hard decision

I realise now that every decision everybody makes is a hard one. I am a bit of an exception for this as I am the most in decisive person ever. But after the last few months of truly horrible events happening in my life I believe that every decision no matter how big or small is a hard one. For example, I have to pay my rent for my flat in Cardiff without actually living there, my decision to not move in and pay half rent....was a hard one. The shampoo I wanted to buy, £6.00, it took me 15minutes to decided to spend that much money on something when it is literally going down the plug hole. To the extreme of do I go and visit my beloved nan,which heart breakingly this week was for the last time, it took me days to decide and now I could not be more glad.

So how are you meant to balance out these choices? Do you group them all into the same level of decisions or do you split them? Are big decisions more important to spend time on? Or is gut reaction the best way to go?

Personally I just think that every decision is a hard decision.

Being fired is in fashion?

I cannot believe that one of the breaking news headlines in the fashion world is that the currently fired, racist and lets face it one drink from an alcoholic John Galliano was even given the time of day for rumours of a Topshop collaboration to surface. I heard the rumour a few days ago and was relieved to hear that Phillip Green had personally contacted Vogue UK to set straight that although Galliano had made a good design play by designing Kate Moss' wedding dress, not discussions were held about his come back in fashion being for Topshop.

And why should it be? I understand that Galliano is a credit to the fashion world. Being the designer for Dior for many years and creating lovely pieces,his foot print in fashion will always be around. But as soon as anybody takes for granted their fame and fortune by being offensive and racist surely they loose the right to any more respect, no matter how good their work?

Why not keep and calm and collected persona, or keep of the radar all together. Look at Vera Wang, she creates some of the most beautiful and iconic garments in the world, she is sought after by every celeb bride or ball gown needing red carpet star. What does she do? She keeps her head down, makes friends with her clients, smiles politely at the paps when shes spotted and focuses on creating her dresses.

That surely is the sign of a true designer?

If Galliano is more interested in voicing his opinion with drunken slurs then maybe fashion is better off without him?

I love Kate Moss and her style but this is just not enough.

For a slightly more edgy vibe I choose.....Ed Westwick, the fact that he is Chuck Bass does add to this choice but that is purely because I love him.

His chic and simple black combos give him the look of true effortless style.

For red carpet style it was too hard to pick my favourite, so I decided to pick all of my favourites.

GEORGE CLOONEY. Never has he taken a step wrong on the red carpet,he just gets better with age with his traditional black suits perfectly tailored, never too much but always the perfect amount.

Voted sexiest man in the world, Ryan Reynolds chooses a modern take on the traditional suit. Trading in a jacket for a tailored waistcoat.

Every girls dream. Here Rob Pattinson sheds his vampire style and transforms into a stylish simplistic man.

Now I know my final choice has made some SERIOUS mistakes with his past style choices. Although I believe that it was actually his wife making the decisions for him. He has now transformed into one of the sexiest and best dressed men on the planted. With his combination of in excusable good looks, amazing tattoos and great clothes David Beckham has my vote of the most stylish male celebrity.

I know that majority of people believe that a true "Style icon" is somebody with their own sense of style. I do agree with this but I think that there are certain reasons behind this. For example.....

Kate Moss - She has the epitome of rock chick chic style. She is possibly the coolest woman in fashion right now and can never go wrong. For years she has been the cream of the crop with festival wear and people are on the edge of their seats waiting to see her choice of wedding dress for her big day.

From her biker chic leather jacket teamed with super skinny jeans and statement bags.

To red carpet glamour. Moss rules the fashion charts.

However what I dont get it the thought of people such as Lady Gaga have actual fashion sense. She does not wear practical fashionable clothes. Her wardrobe is made from stylists and stage costumes designed to make a statement not to look fashionable. I believe that the true fashion followers are those who can take simple items of clothing and make them look good. It isnt always about being over the top and the first thing people look at in the street. Its about being the person people look at and think "Wow she looks really nice in that" Surely its nicer to pull off something simple in a good way than dress yourself up to the nines just for attention?

Here's my evidence

This is NOT fashion. It is a big faux pas!

Instead look at Whitney Port, she chooses natural make up and a simple blazer and shorts combo and looks like she really knows what she is doing! She takes one item of clothing and gracefully accessories it to look fresh and girly and still stylish. Alongside others such as Olivia Palermo, Lauren Conrad, Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Alexa Chung who wear real clothes for real style.

Skinny jeans and a blazer made stylish is the way to do it. Not by wearing meat or cling film of any other dress Gaga may come up with.

Now every girl knows how hard it is to find the right pair of jeans. Everybody loves a good skinny, but you have to worry about your legs looking fat or your muffin tops being exaggerated. A fashionable affair

Today I have realised my true obsession with fashion. I know a lot of people say they love it and a lot of people follow it but majority don't know their armani from primarni. However, today I was at work. At work in a nursery boutique. The manager of a high end stockist came in and the first thing I noticed was the HUGE Tiffanys rock on her finger. After freaking her out by staring at her hands I then noticed what she was carrying. MY Chloe bag. (The last 2 months has been spent weighing up the chances of me getting any of the Mulberry of Chloe bags I have blogged about) seeing that in real life helped a lot. THEN just to top it off when it came around to opening her briefcase....MULBERRY....when her purse fell out....MULBERRY.

I actually felt like crying.

I then somehow managed to move the conversation onto how good it would be if mulberry made pram accessories and how they still have years to make them in time for me to have a baby.

By the time we had finished discussing how we like our bags to soften and which Mulberry is the nicest 40 minutes had passed.

It is painful.

I need my Chloe bag and I need it now.

A black and white affair

Now I am one of those people who hasn't got a "colour" or a "style" that I always go for. Anything I buy has to be different from other things I own because I never want to look like im wearing the same thing twice (sad but true) This posed a difficult problem when it came to be having a job where I needed to wear black and white.

I know what you're thinking, "Black and white is easy to find" But NO. Not wanting to look like everybody else in black and white meant a 2 days long hunt for black and white clothes.

After hours and hours I eventually found some!

Inside the wardrobe

Seeing as I feel free to comment on everybody else and their fashion. I thought it was only fair to give a sneak peak into my wardrobe (and clothes rail). I have two sets of draws, one double wardrobe, a clothes rail, half of my mums wardrobe and 2 shoes boxes. As well as a suitcase filled with clothes, scarves, hats and bags under my bed. I still have nothing to wear.

Ok so this is my Topshop rail. (Im not joking) It is filled with either my favourite or my Topshop clothes....so mainly Topshop. I have my favourite Kate Moss dress (far right) also worn by Alexa Chung! From the left are my 3 new summer purchases of my coral shorts, yellow chiffon shorts and white flowered linen skirt. My other favourite buy is my denim tie shirt. (All Topshop)

Some of my other favourites include my camel polka dot Asos dress and my tapered leg black topshop trousers, these I wear for work, going out or shopping, perfect value!

And every girl needs her loafers and Topshop gladiators :)

Inside my wardrobe is a gigantic pile of brogues, brogue boots, riding boots, wedges, mary janes and sandals. All burried away somewhere!

Alongside my knit wear, coats and blazers. My favourite maxi dress from H&M that was a steal at £12.99!

A trusty aran knit cardigan and a collection of going out dresses from Topshop, Warehouse, H&M and Zara.

The most important part of my wardrobe?

BLAZERS.

I swear by my cream silk blazer and my basic black blazer to go with everything.

A while ago I posted a bit of a rant about facebook. I am now sat here having flicked through facebook and seen people talking to people they use to hate, people talking behind backs and people generally not being very nice. SO this made me think, what is it that people are eventually ever going to be loyal about? I think I know.

Fashion.

When you think about all of the style icons in the world today, they are constant examples of true style. They never suddenly step out in a pair of sweatpants and a primark hoody.

Prove it I hear you say?

Look back at Kate Moss. From her very first shoots she was famous for her James Brien styled hair, her quirky features and her rock and roll attitude to life and fashion. She always rocks her skinny jeans and tanks and can easily mix it up with her own beautiful topshop creations. Never ever is Moss seen 'slobbing' around. A true loyalty to fashion is to keep fashion on you at all times.

Now not comparing myself to any style icon whatsoever but I know myself that I would rather sit at home and still be in my topshop clothes than sat feeling horrible in sweats.

I think loyalty proves itself in fashion. And fashion is the only thing you can be truly loyal to.

I am sat here, glass of wine wrapped up with my puppy in my chunky aran cardigan. (Yes im 20 and its a Saturday night but I've had a good few weekends out) anyway...I was thinking what influences people with their fashion? I mean I have people that I look up to for fashion ideas, famous people influence me yet I wander how well I can really reflect these trends. I mean I am no Sienna Miller or Alexa Chung (as much as I wish I was) and do I really want to immitate them in a bad way? I would rather worship what they wear how they wear it.

Well I went shopping today and had an over whelming sense of pride when I saw that in Topshops window display was an outfit I had purchased last week. The outfit was not put together in the shop and I LOVED the fact that I had proof that I had made a good choice.

But when it comes to a basic budget can our affair with fashion be as great and grand as those with big budgets to blow?

I sit here waiting for 6 months and 6 days until my 21st birthday graces me with a Mulberry bag or Rose gold Marc Jacob watch.

Now I know that the biggest wedding news around is the royals. However there is a wedding for fashion royalty happening soon too! Miss Kate Moss. The best dressed woman in Britain is finally getting hitched. But the BIG question is, who will she be wearing?

Kate is never one for the traditions but maybe she could switch on her traditional style and grace the aisle in a white goddess dress?

She may however go in the opposite direction and go completely against tradition and wear the masculine suit.

However with all of the designers Moss had modelled for, how will she decide who to choose to wear down the aisle? Maybe she would be better off designing her own? Whatever she wears im sure she will rock the wedding dress!

One of my favourite magazines is Glamour. It has been gracing the fashion lovers worlds since 2001 and I have been a devoted follower (since I was old enough to be allowed to read some of the articles) So I decided to dig up the first few editions just to see if we've hit the time for trends to be repeating themselves.

In the very first issue its hard to say whether Kate Winslet would be captured in such an au natural way nowadays.

In 2001 issues the trends were focusing on Britney inspired chokers and anything lace. Ok so maybe lace has come back into style but I think its safe to say that Britney is no longer a role model in the fashion world in 2011.

2006 started to highlight the faces of fashion that would stick around for a long time. Beyonce graced the covers and has continued to grace numerous covers of numerous magazines ever since.

It is quite funny to realise how times are changing.

I know everybody loves Topshop and believe me I am close to Olivia Palermo standards of worshipping the place but they have out done themselves this season. Browsing through the pages of the website and wandering through the shop is a ridiculously painful but beautiful thing.

Traditionally Topshop but this dress is actually limited edition and I will admit to trying it on being fully aware that 1. I will never have an occasion to wear this and 2. I will never have the money to buy this.

For cute summer going out clothes, this is gorgeous and not too far off a Chloe re-make?

This is an amazing colour and the best sort of top to cover up any "oops I ate too much" moments!

Looking through my picks, everything resembles the same girly elements of Chloe, I think this is a sign that I should be treated by somebody to ANYTHING Chloe :). Everything is stunning!

Now I know I have already blogged about The Model Agency but I completely take back what I said in my previous blog about India being the agencys best new face. After watching last night she stupidly missed a skype session with MARIO TESTINO. (Yes really) because of 'mis-communication'. Im sorry but EXCUSE ME!?

I have never seen a young girl thats been thrown into such an amazing life be so un grateful. She came home from New York fashion week, decided to quit modelling and missed the chance to talk to one of the worlds best photographers because she got told she couldnt put on weight. Shes a model....shes isnt allowed to put on weight!

HOWEVER.

Along came Leomie Anderson.
The one they thought would want to come home crying from New York and wouldnt flourish in the industry......last night she was walking for Marc Jacobs. Flying from London to Paris and being escorted to the bathroom to prevent agencies sweet talking her. Talk about high flying.

Shes also been referred to in the same group as Naomi Campbell as being one of the most sought after english black girls in the modelling world.

The most humbling part of it all?

When asked what she would buy after being paid £75,000 for her Paris catwalks?

Furstenberg is the epitome of a designer for girly girls. She produces endless streams of beautiful floral clothes and amazing bags making her collections perfect of the typical girl. She is also responsible for pushing Whitney Port into her career of styling. Being a brief star of The City, Furstenberg was seen giving Whitney a heart to heart. Now I know it was because she was upset and everything but a heart to heart with one of the worlds best designers is a heart to heart I would LOVE. Her advice?

"The most important relationship you have is the relationship with yourself"

She obviously follows this as all of her passion goes into her stunning designs.

Once again, my purse cries.

I would quite happily have all of these in my life.

I read the most brilliant and true to fashion story today! Christian Louboutin has stated that when he designs his beautiful red soled shoes he doesn't think about comfort. He described his shoes as when people describe relationships as 'Well, we're not really in love, but we're in a comfortable relationship.' He believes that comfortable is the worst word to be used. It is possible to be too comfortable.

Looking at these new season spike shoes his description of his ideal woman to wear his shoes is a strong professional business woman. Highlighting why women such as Blake Lively and Sarah Jessica Parker are worshippers of his designs.

I'm not a Harry Potter fan and I am extremely jealous of the crazy amount of money the stars of it made. I mean they're MY age....my age!! Anyway' I think the one thing about this group of young money makers is Emma Watson. She has morphed and grown from a long hair geek to a pixie classic, style princess!

She has been the face of Burberry and is draped in Chanel in her evening and casual clothes. She is a prime example of being able to portray true style with the simple black skinny jeans and striped t-shirt. Her hair cut swept the country when she snipped her long locks to elf cuts. She truly is a Burberry beauty.

When you look back over time, its easy to question whether people in love really give everything their all? I mean look at people like Jennifer Aniston and Sandra Bullock. They had two of the most idolised relationships in America and what happened to them? They were heartbroken and let down yet they didnt spend their time upset or regretting anything, they spent their time winning Oscars and Grammys.

So is it true to say that being knocked down is just a step to rebuild yourself as a better person?

Even in movies, the film focuses on one heartbroken person re building their lives. They focus on fate. If someone is meant to be with someone else, fate will deal with it. I personally dont believe in fate. I believe that everyone chooses to do what they do and they choose this knowing the circumstances facing them at the end. If you love someone, you love them. If you dont, you dont. No ifs buts or maybes about it.

Take Carrie Bradshaws life in SATC. She wrote her best selling books through single life and heartbreak....when did her first bad review show? When she wrote about marriage.

Maybe its the pain and the heart ache that spurs people on to show what they can really do?
Maybe relying on so called "fate" just isn't enough?

I have once again fallen head over heels in love with every item of clothing tht Alexa Chung wears. How does she manage to look SO stylish and always SO comfortable and cool?! It is almost like shes a magnet to fashion and clothes fly off the catwalk onto her in a perfect way!

The Model Agency started last night. It follows Premier Model Management. The first episode was based on this you model India. It showed her as she was flown to New York for fashion week and how she struggled to decide whether she was meant to model or not. Personally I feel that she looks like she was born to model!

I love The City and The Hills and everything to do with Lauren Conrad or Whitney Port (as much as I blame them for my high expectations of my career in fashion)

The only person I really cannot stand when watching these shows in Olivia Palermo. I think she is a prime example of a person who will do anything and tread on anybody to get where she wants to be and to be honest, she is not doing anywhere near as well as the other girls.

HOWEVER

Her taste in jewellery is remarkable!

I know it sounds like an odd thing to notice but I have now spent my time watching the city completely ignoring what she is saying and looking at her hands to see her combination of rings or which combination of huge necklaces she manages to combine and the over size gems of beautiful handbags she carries.

This outfit makes me want to cry, nice clothes always happen to horrible people!

I love here how she works proportions, using wide leg trousers and balancing them with her oversized necklace. Still managing to compliment her petite frame.

She is a prime example of bringing style into the city!

Asos is one of those online shops that needs word of mouth to get about. I remember my first dress I purchased of Asos, one dress it took for me to fall in love with this DIVINE online taste of quick shop heaven!

I know it sounds odd but I also love the amount of people who say "I cant be bothered to sit and look on Asos" when you have that slight satisfaction that you are indeed, wearing something beautiful from Asos!

I have to admit I am not a fan of their new "Market place" it doesn't say Asos to me. The theme of the website is to be celebrity influenced and not vintage, It just does not float my fashion boat.

HOWEVER

Introducing the new Spring/Summer range. WOW.

The entire collection follows these beautiful marketing images. I love the pleating trend. It is the cutest trend to have hit catwalks and high street for a long time. Pleated skirts, dresses, tops anything. It is a stunning trend.

They then followed this up by posting their amazing collage of muses that inspire the designers of this collection. This image is a one of a kind combination of muses.

My advice?

Do take the time for Asos.

Okay so I've been hearing a lot lately about rumours of who will play Carrie Bradshaw in a SATC prequel. Now I personally love Blake Lively and she, being the forefront of the rumoured actresses would be able to pull the character off brilliantly! (Or so I think)....Once i started thinking about it though i realised that she and Sienna Miller who my my two favorite style icons have both been offered amazing roles.

Shockingly I was only given Factory Girl to watch recently and i was heart broken when i saw such an amazing film so long after it had been released. I have never seen an actress capture someone personality as well as Miller does in that film. She was amazing as Edie!

It led me onto thinking.....do the most stylish celebs get the best roles?
I mean Blake Lively has quite a gossip girl esq feel to her own style, quite similarly to Carrie Bradshaw. Sienna Miller has her own boho style, creating her own name and image with what she wear...very much like Edie Sedgwick did.

So do the most stylish women, get the most stylish roles?

Kelly Cutrone is possibly the ballsiest woman in fashion. Yet by being that ballsy she has one of the best and most recognised businesses and jobs in fashion. She is a PR and works on promoting any new or established designers that ask her to promote their new collections or designs. She has her AMAZING tv show Kell on Earth and is everything you need to be to get on in the fashion world!

Plus she also helped Whitney Port (my favourite rags to riches designer)

I have started to read her new book "If you have to cry, go outside!" It is AMAZING!
Its sort of a step by step guide through her life to how she got where she is today. All be it a very very VERY scary road!

She's a legend of PR and definitely stands by her rule of going outside to cry.
She is also one of very few people who dedicate their lives to fashion and still manage to have a 100% family orientated life.

I am a Glamour- aholic.

I am the first to admit. I WORSHIP that magazine!!! The day before I moved to uni my mum made me clear out my exceeding 100 copies collection. That actually turned into me taking half with me and hiding the other half under my bed. I think that Glamour is the best fashion and life style magazine around. It offers a straight to the point and sharp, on trend view on everything. Looking from love to the colour youre hair should be.... to the colour Cheryl Cole has dyed her hair. Everyday without fail I am logged onto the Glamour web page partially for style tips and partially because im nosey and like to know what is going on in celeb land :)

It is my DREAM to work for a fashion magazine (particularly this one) one day.

Carrie Bradshaw will have a run for her money!

This was also possibly my favourite copy. I LOVE Gemma Arterton, she came across as such a down to earth actress for having roles in some of the amazing films she has featured in. That is what is great about Glamour, the way that they will always portray people they interview exactly how they portray themselves. No covers.

I know this is nothing to do with fashion however I think this is something that affects fashion and how people think of themselves.

Social networking.

Now when I was in secondary school and going through my 'emo' phase I was all about Myspace, you would spend hours re-doing your profile making sure you had the right backgrounds and songs and people would continuously comment on your embarassing photos with nice comments. You could be one of a kind.

However now, I sit on Facebook and read endless comments of people making horrible remarks about people, horrible remarks about their friends, families and constantly commenting on how people look or how they've dressed on nights out. There are photos of everything personal in peoples lives from weddings to christenings.

Facebook should be a place to network (I get that) post your blog on it or upload yourself show casing a talent but I think there is a point that has been hit recently where Facebook has turned into people being able to take a cowardly way out of standing up for themselves. I am sure that the creator of Facebook didnt create this site for people to make their lives or other peoples live to sound bad. I am the first to admit that since starting university i have posted status' and bombarded my Facebook with comments of wanting to go home but, once i have realised that nobody truly wants to read that, it is deleted. The worst type of sympathy is the sympathy that people feel pressured to give.

I was just sat here looking at the clothes I have asked for for Christmas whilst searching Topshop for camel nail polish. I think I am a bit of a camel clothing lover. Also looking through my wardrobe my winter collection seems to consist of mostly dusty pink and camel. What am I going to do if camel goes out of fashion?

I think I'm going to have to start a campaign for designers to "Keep camel cool" I am sat right now in my high waisted Zara shorts....in camel with my aran knit cardigan. Also another piece of clothing that I know A LOT of people will be missing if it goes out of style.

Oh no.

Fast fashion is about to ruin my wardrobe :(

Matthew Williamson has announced that he is releasing his very first range of bridal dresses. He is one of my favourite designers and best friend of Sienna Miller. I can only begin to imagine how gorgeous these dress will be!

He is a genius! They are the most angelic, pretty and graceful dresses that have been designed by such a famous and respected designer yet. (Apart from Vera Wang of course) Well...let the dress saving fund OPEN!
